COG watt meter solution
Many of the power meters or watt meters on the market usually use a metal pin connection between the display and the PCB. The driver IC for the LCD is glued to the PCB. Some power meters already use a COG solution. The name COG stands for Chip-On-Glass Technology. The driver IC is applied directly to the glass of the LCD. This means that only the power supply and an interface such as I²C or SPI need to be provided on the user side. With these serial interfaces, only a few lines are needed from the COG module to the board. This solution has a small size and few connection pins. Assembly is simple and the costs are lower than with the conventional design. Holitech's COG solution is not affected by the shortage of ICs currently prevailing on the market. The Asian specialist for display solutions had already ordered a stockpile in 2021, which means that supply is guaranteed today. Holitech's automated production line manufactures from panel to module in one production process with a minimum lead time of 10 days.
